Concrete work in Blue Ash, where the ranch-house driveways are at the end of the line

Blue Ash is a postwar suburb of ranches and split-levels on good-sized lots, now with driveways and walks sixty years old. Replacement is most of the work, with patios and small commercial slabs around the business parks.

Blue Ash is the Hamilton County city northeast of Cincinnati, between Kenwood and Sharonville, built out mainly in the 1950s through the 1970s as a suburb of single-story and split-level houses on lots big enough for a real backyard. The original driveways, front walks and patios are now sixty years old, and the ones that haven't been replaced are spalling, cracked, sunk at the apron and heaved by the trees planted when the houses were new. Driveway replacement, done once with a proper base and an air-entrained mix, is the most common call.

The second is the patio. Blue Ash yards are flat enough and big enough for the patio the 1960s house never had, and a stamped or exposed-aggregate slab off the back door, sometimes with a pad for a hot tub or an outdoor kitchen, is a regular job. Then walks, stoops and garage floors, and around the business parks along Reed Hartman and Kenwood Road, small commercial work: walks, pads, dumpster pads and curb repairs.

Blue Ash is a city with its own building department and its own engineering rules for its streets, and it keeps up its public sidewalks the way Cincinnati does, with the owner responsible. Kenwood Road and the Ronald Reagan Highway are state and county roads with their own offices. We check before pricing.

Asked in Blue Ash

Should I replace or resurface a 1965 driveway?

If it's flaking across the surface, replace; an overlay on a slab with no air in its mix fails. If it's sound and just worn, an overlay can work. We'll price both.

Can you widen my driveway for a third car?

Yes, doweled into the existing slab if it's sound. Check the City's zoning rules on width and the apron rules on the curb opening; we do.

Do you do commercial work in Blue Ash?

Small commercial: walks, pads, dumpster pads, curb and apron repairs around the business parks. Not large-scale paving.

Does Blue Ash send sidewalk notices?

The City expects owners to maintain the public walk and can issue them. We price by panel when one arrives.
